I'm told by friends that the journey could take weeks and the standard of sailing needed on the south coast is very high and they don't recommend i do it till i get more experience.
I hate being beaten....i may risk it myself

From the nation that produced Huw Puw, probably the most sensible suggestion so far.
On the assumption, always dangerous, that the boat is in good nick and ready to go, do it!
Make sure the basics are in place and working, find some crew with some experience.
If it doesn't feel right it probably is not right.
Prepare for a real learning experience and having to fix things as you go along.
Some legs will be longer than others if you want to make reasonable progress.
Really only come into my own at Dover. From there, 8 legs, 14 days, what with waiting for tides, sleep, a bit of carp weather and enjoying the trip.
Dover - Eastbourne or Brighton. Could stop at Rye, or anchor off - Ask Dylan W
Brighton or Eastbourne - Swanage. Have to time St Kats right!
Swanage - Salcombe
Salcombe - Falmouth.
Falmouth - Newlyn. Or anchor off Mousehole.
Newlyn - Milford Haven [Dale] Get the timings for Lands End and in daylight
Milford Haven - Fishguard Timings for the passages inside Skomer and Ramsey.
After that you should know the way..... though the water between Bardsey and the mainland can command respect and careful timing.
Ah!. Theory to practice, that is a long and challenging journey. Filling the knowledge gaps is usually the hardest bit.
Many thanks to all. Due to lack of experience i'm bringing it back on a lorry. Many thanks again to all.
