Anyone used Interstrip AF? If so, how much did you use for a complete boat? Was it much easier than just attempting to scrape of hardened antifouling? What did you use as a scraper? And finally, what temperature were you working in?
Thanks in advance for any replies. I really think that this winter I've got to bite the bullet and not put on any more antifouling on my boat's flaking bottom.

Miker, invest in a 2'' Sandvik scraper,(Tungsten steel blade- reversable) not cheap but most efective way of getting rid of old A/F.....Could remove from a Westerly 33 over the weekend....don't forget to wear a decent mask and goggles.Sand blasting provides its own problems.. TW.

Hi....I used two gelplane tools, (one for a friend, but can you find a friend at antifouling time?), like the sandvik with reversible tunsten carbide blades, on my cat. 50 square metres in a weekend...never had to reverse the blades cos they last and last....gelplane advised me to slightly round the corners at the ends of the blade to minimise scratches. The albanian labourer assigned to help only wanted to use a big sander which would have ground the old antifouling into the fibreglass....so I went like hell in front of him with the gelplane tool to strip the a/f and he provided the clean matt surface for the epoxy coating I wanted, the real purpose of the excercise, before the next A/F .
Cheers....R

I have used it to remove completely all the antifoul from a 10m hull. In summary, it takes ages, is unpleasant and costs a lot. However, it does give a really smooth finish on the remaining gelcoat.

It took about 12 small tins to do it and took 10 man days. It doesn't get all the layers off in one go however much you slap on and wiggle it about.

I wouldn't use it again. It's just too much bother.

As an aside, Dilunet was even worse.
