International Women's Day 2019. A great day to celebrate all the incredibly talented and inspirational female sailors in the world!

If we want to celebrate anybody because of their sex, can I nominate the thousands of female sailors who were persuaded that it was something that they might enjoy so year after year get out their Mustos and set off to crew, clean and cook for their family when if independently questioned would admit that they would actually be happier lounging in the sun on a cruise liner with a large gin and tonic.

Yes,my late mother was in fact the backbone o my fathers nautical forays, she cooked, navigated and was foredeck crew and didn’t get seasick like my father,he gave up boating when she decided she had had enough!

I support celebrating this day. It is a reminder that Gender discrimination is still real but should have no room in our society.

And yes, we too have discovered the delights of Cunard and P&O, but their gin bars are pretty poor.

Cruising is fab but there's no 'enjoyment of ownership' and safe place to fix stuff away from the missus on Sundays. You can also spend your perfectly good boatyard berthing fee on a cruise. Understand the value chaps; one lasts 12 months. The other 2 weeks. Honestly, which is the best value for money? :)
