I'm pondering the idea of an interior face lift in companionways, salon and cabins....

Newer models of the same boat have adopted a half wood / half textile look and it's much brighter and has a nicer feel to it than the all-wood in my view.

Not necessarily a DIY job to get it done right but it also doesn't strike me as too difficult with a new waist high "dado rail" covering the transition from wood to textile on the walls and probably squeeze in the fabric behind the architrave around the doors.

Thoughts on the level of complexity that lies ahead on this seemingly simple (but nothing on boats is simple) facelift?

Old style.......

New style......(obviously the lighter wood makes a big difference too.....I am not suggesting changing that!!!)

Easy job, especially if you just want to do flat sections

Use a structural wrap. It has a texture to it

A few before and after. It was all dark woodView attachment 209532View attachment 209533View attachment 209534View attachment 209535View attachment 209531View attachment 209530View attachment 209529

LIGHT LINEN LL433 VINYL WRAP

That stuff looks perfect! I did look at some 3M wraps but they were really thin and not a "linen" feel.

I've just ordered the swatch from those guys.

Thank you!!!

I did. lovely and soft underfoot. £85 for a roll end. No idea what it is other than a twist carpet
Looks great. My carpet where there is a lot of feet use has gone a bit flat. Fancy something a bit more luxurious under foot in the saloon. (Cabins have wool mats but are cazillions of £ :D )

I think one of the issues with wrapping is its obvious its been wrapped because what other material would that be? Secondly wrap tears really easily. I think people all too often forget the luxuriant nature of these solid expensive beautiful woods (cherry, walnut and mahogany) and that if you went to a Sea Tag type company to have those woods fitted, they would charge a fortune. My advice, perhaps try to accent those areas you're not happy with with, rather than a total re haul.

Have you seen the wrap i linked to in person? I completely agree with your comments when talking DC fix or 3M type wrap but this is different. Its used in buildings and lifts with a texture to it….stuff like that. Hard wearing for sure. Agree to accent aswell but i think that was the idea anyway.

Yes I saw what you referenced and thought it looked a little too much if I'm honest, hence why I suggested accenting is probably the way to go rather than full on Mr Bean paint explosion. Not necessarily wrapping accenting either. You have a lovely boat and perhaps accenting with leather panels rather than wrap will give your boat a rich feel rather than a "quick makeover" feel.

Fair enough and respect your opinion
