How enlightening.
One learns something new every day.

I normally move the least hygienic crew member around the deck until I can smell him clearly.

Ones nose is then pointing straight up wind.

Doesn\'t the wind always come from ahead?

For a stinkie?

OK, so they don't know the difference between true and apparent winds. But judging the direction of the true wind is a trick a lot of raggies aren't that good at either.

Plus, he keeps his boat on the Beaulieu river, where the wind can be quixotic, to say the least. I think, also, that he's just swapped a swinging mooring for berthing alongside a pontoon (at least, that's what it looked like last time I went past his boat) so I suspect there's a learning curve in process. I'm sure we all remember them ;o)
