Jerrod is in Belgium and my insurance company require an insurance survey carried out on her. The locals don't seem to know the concept of a survey for insurance. I have been quoted three thousand to get a hull certificate and I can't get anyone to understand that I don't need such a thing.
Has anyone managed to have a survey for insurance carried out in Belgium?

Have you consider approaching the surveyors professional body for a list of surveyors who operate in locality .? Or speaking to a yacht broker who might be local to vessel location or are these the locals you mention.

in two occasions I had a inspection done on my trailable boat in Belgium, by the Insurance co (Delta Loyd)
they had this done by a professional marine survey company from holland,
in both occasions they were very good had lots of expertise,
looking in my files it was this co:
http://www.kersten-experts.com/
that was some years ago now !

no connection, just good and professional experience,
afaik you will not find anything like that in Belgium

It might well be a lot cheaper to fly out a surveyor from the Uk but it should be possible to get someone local to do it.
I did email marine surveyors in Belgium and that's where I got the price of three thousand from. I approached local insurance agents in Liége looking for a name or a recommendation but I got blank stares. They didn't know of such a thing as a survey just for insurance.
I will try that link to Kersten and see how it pans out.
I wonder if it would be better to arrange local insurance?
Thanks for the replies so far
