Used to be with HKJ, had 2 claims in 2 years. On both occasions they paid out without a quibble.
This year moved to Velos due to the Sealine discount, unfortunately HKJ were unable to get anywhere near the Velos quote which I suppose is due to the previous claims.

Would quite happily go back to HKJ once we have built up a few years NCD

I use PANTAENIUS as I read their policy documents and they offered in my view the best cover. Surely it shouldn't be about the price (within reason) but what is covered that you be looking at.

Andrew I totally agree with you - I went with these guys on JFM's recommendation as HKJ that I used previously was light on there cover and with these guys I can use the boat solo inc night passage so is good for me - T

We were with tower gate and had the misfortune to hit a semi submerged object they handled the claim really well had a assessor with us the following day to inspect the boat when it was lifted and agreed the work straight away the claim was dealt with by one person who I could speak to and any questions quickly dealt with Even tho The boat was in Majorca . When we sold the boat end of last year I rang them to cancel the cover and within a week our account was credited with a refund on the policy so in all a very good experience

I wouldn't recommend Towergate. Fine if you make a modest claim, or one that is squarely covered by the policy. But the policy has exclusions that others don't, and in my view they are very keen to invoke an exclusion even when there is an overwhelming case that it doesn't apply. Just my opinion.

I have spoken to Debbie at GJW today and they have managed to get the policy down by nearly £200 of the original quote WOW, so they are now only £10 more expensive than towergate so I am happy and will be staying with GJW for the next year, happy days :D

Excellent result Shawn!!

Although not really boaty,my boat club arranged insurance via Towergate and wrongly assumed that the cover suggested would be suitable for our purposes.
We suffered a considerable financial loss when the policy they provided failed to cover a pretty common event that most clubs will be faced with at some point or other.

Good news that you've got the policy reduced by £200, but its disappointing that companies don't offer customers fair competitive quotes in the first place, rather than having to play them off against each other.

?? What event?
I'm currently with GJW, although I did spend one year with Navigators and General after GJW bumped up the renewal for no apparent reason other than a disloyalty un-discount, and rather than challenging it, I swapped. Re-quoted the season after, and got a much better price from GJW on exactly the same details!

We used Euromarine insurance, who dealt with our claim fairly quickly. Our mooring parted in a gale and they didn't question it but I do feel things could have been handled better.

However, the surveyor that was sent to assess the damage was awful - and I mean awful. He missed issues that he should have picked up and then insisted on a second survey to re-assess the damage he missed in the first place. The boat was damaged on the rocks, and he spent longer checking the topsides than he did underneath. Go figure! As a commercial boat we were out of the water for 6 months of this year which is a nightmare.

I was with GJW but now with bishop skinner. These are the ones that insure the RNLI. Never had to claim with any insurance company and long may that continue.
Does anybody had a claim or any experiences with bishop skinner.

Craftinsure. Quick free online quote. Always been helpful but no claim experience. They did send me a cheque to backdate a discount when they found out i'd passed my YM so seem honourable.
