Inspection Hatch

Seems you're on a mission to make new holes in your boat!
Did you get a response from the dealer/manufacturer when you asked the question regarding access? as per your post of a week or so ago..
Looks to me that you are going to ruin a good wet locker if you put a hatch in there....
 
That looks like a sealed under seat bin. I don't think it will alter the structural integrity at all and I wouldn't hesitate for a moment about cutting a hole there if it was my boat. (but I'm not a Naval Architect)

Why don't you put one of those round dinghy hatches in there so its still sealed?

Don't do what I did once and fit the hatch with self tapping screws. You rip your hand to shreds on the points when you put your hand through the hole!

Hi Robwales:) Havent heard from him yet. Was just wandering:) Would use a hatch like this oneView attachment 60293
 
IMHO cutting that hole would be perfectly fine.
I do think you are over-worrying about those skin fittings though. They're not incredibly pretty but they're perfectly ok imho. I'd leave them alone and check back in 3 years by looking thru the cup holder. Only cut this new hole if you ever need to.

yes that what i was thinking. Just checking if compromising structural strength of boat. i doubt it because its like a locker ( bowl ) under seat.

True they are worrying me. And i understand they are not that pretty. Would like to put hose further in for maximum tightness. and may be double clip them but havent got access and matter is driving me nuts:)
 
To the left of the cup holder hole on the vertical face coming up from deck level and peeping out from behind the red cloth, there seems to be a screw fixing holding something in place?
Not sure what this is but if removable is there access from here?

Hi Rob. No thats a closed compartment like glove boxes in cars. Thanks for your interest and help mate.
 
I used to use an endoscope camera to inspect what I couldn't reach. A cheap one is about fifty quid

Yes true. Good. But in order to check tightness of clip and if in the worst case scenario have to change the clip or hose comes out? Do you think if cutting a kole ( Inspection Hatchet ) compromises the structure of boat. Hole will be under the seat in a well.
 
If you are cutting a hole in the top molding, its so full of holes, hatches cabins doors etc, how can one more hurt? Besides if the hole is replaced by a hatch then the frame of the hatch replaces the lost integrity and when the hatch is closed it's even stronger.
But I'm no engineer it's just the advice of a bodger.

I think this is correct, probably conservative actually, providing we are talking about replacing the integrity of the hole. :D
