Inflatable Lettering

Need to put boat name on inflatable (Zodiac) to keep insurance company happy etc. What is normal method for doing this? (Vinyl, stencil/paint, etc). Can anyone recommend a supplier?

Would also like to put boat name/SSR on underside (for when its on snap davits), assume vinyl is no good for this?

Haven't tried it yet but got some paint from here: http://www.inflatable-boat-supplies.co.uk/ . Download the online catalogue and look up paints/accessories.
I am intending to do the same as you including the underside.

I'm doing the same at moment Bought stick on vinyl letters from Staplels printers supplies 2'' high for 10p per letter, thought I'd try them first before having a name made up in same style as boat. This way if they dont work its only £1.50 up the creek.Dont know about underside though...........Nat

Got mine from a firm in Perth who specialise in lettering of all kinds. Got the boat done three sets and two lots for zodiac for £30 - to fit myself. The zodiac ones are in a special vinyl that sticks onto banners and flags at for example the Golf Opens and such like. Funnily enough its called Banner Vinyl - really good on hypalon or rubber/vinyl that moves or stretches. Company is Instant Image of Perth 01738 445332

I have deliberately not put my boat name on my tender, although both tender and engine have my Pt 1 register number etched into the transom/cover. This was because I have heard of several occasions where theifs have taken a note of boat name from a tender parked ashore in evening, and then subsequently broken into their boat knowing that the owners would be away at the pub for some hours.

I bought mine from a company called SAC graphics in Stourbridge, West Mids. 01384 443011. they have a good mail order service and supply an excellent product at a competitive price. Mine looks like a factory fitted option.

Paint on using Polymarine "Letterflex" paint (best use a stencil). This paint is flexible and formulated for PVC which is what your Zodiac is made of. You may find it in your local chandelry, if not find an Internet supplier. Only put T/T "Boatname" on the underside of the dinghy. This prevents potential thieves from identifying which boats out on the anchorage/moorings are currently probably unoccupied from reading the tender names at the dock.

Got some of these done for my RIB by a company called www.boatname.co.uk they used the banner vinyl and have stayed on now for almost two years with no problems.

They charged me £20 for 3 but that was two years ago so may have gone up by now.

Banner vinyl not the best material.

The above supply a material which is much more flexible, and has a more aggressive adhesive backing, for "bonding" to inflatables tubes.
