It seems to be accepted wisdom, for UK based boats at least, that GRP boats that are not going to be used during the winter benefit from being hauled out and given the chance to 'dry out'. But what about steel hulls? Does the exposure of the underwater sections to atmospheric oxygen increase the chance of rust in those plates?
