In between clinker planking

HI all

I have just about got most of the old varnish off my 12ft clinker built dinghy. I was wondering if there was anything other than putting the new varnish on that was needed.

Do I need to put any thing in between the planks or will layers of varnish be sufficent to plug it all up?

When was she last in the water? The wood swelling up when wet should be enough to keep the water out. Eventually.

Its been (roughly) 6 months or so since the last serious soaking

Don't put anything between the lands in clinker planking. If you do, there is a risk that the planks will distort slightly and you will end up causing a leak by trying to cure one!

She will need a day or two to "take up" but that is normal.
