Re: I\'m off!!!

Hey Alistair, have a great time. I thought you could have gone skiing around your own home turf, without having to go to all the expense of the French Alps?? :)

Re: I\'m off!!!

The snow where we are is Wet and the weather is horrible,
Usually the skiing in Europe is Dry and sunny./forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Skiing in Scotland is ok, for the odd day. Not a full week.

Thanks for your wishes.

Cheers

Alistair.

Re: I\'m off!!!

Depends where you are going ... but basically French Alps are superb today . However there have been a number of Avalanches due to high ambient temperature even in La Tigne where there was a death yesterday.

As I speak we are getting another dump from above so you can expect incredible conditions if the weather turns colder as expected..

Enjoy !

Re: I\'m off!!!

We are going to the Three Valley's, La Tania. There was major Avalanche risk there last week as you said. Conditions at the moment are said to be 'Perfect'. Temp -16.

I believe the U.K is forecasted for Snow next week, Hopefully it will miss France, as its no fun skiing in Blizzards.

No, i haven't seen the forecast, but i've heard its gonna be cold.
The Boat has been winterized, and has a tube heater in the Cuddy, so i hope thats enough.

Where in Scotland do you Sail?

Re: Tube Heaters....

I got bought one for xmas, put it on a snazzy bit of wood but cant bring myself to leave it on. Does the worry go away after a few days when the boat has'nt burnt down to the waterline????

Re: Tube Heaters....

Yes, exactly what i thought, and yes the worry DOES go away after the first few days and the marina haven't phoned you to say its gone.

I leave mine on a timer so its not on all day.
And yes Keep it screwed to a piece of wood to make it more stable, and make sure nothing can touch it or fall against it.
