Bob, it was a straight question

If you have a gripe with me, then you can always email me. If we are within say 50 miles of each other then we could have a beer or two to discuss things ... or if you would prefer, then I'd be delighted to take you for a sail on Birgitta.

If the RYA would accept my, I could join..

I have paid my subscription to the RYA by Direct Debit for at least ten years

This year I got a letter saying 'We hope you have found our services of benefit and would you like to renew your Subscription' The form had a number on it and I had not cancelled my Direct Debit. The reference number on the Direct Debit form they sent me was the same as the DD already in place. Knowing the way banks work I reckoned that if I filled it in they would pay twice against each demand so I emailed the mebershipship office and explained. No answer but.....

Three weeks later I got a repeat of the original letter. So iu rang the RYA membership office and talked to the membership manager. I wa promised that the matter would be sorted out and I was sent a new membership card which says I am a member until 2003. Great I thought, but............

I got a repeat of the letter, obviously generated by some mad computer. So I rang the CEO's office and spoke to his PA. She promised to inform him of my problem and that it would all be sorted out in a few days. Great I thought, but.....

A couple of days ago I tried to log onto an RYA site using my (new) membership card. I was informed that my membership had lapsed. As I had a reply to another post from the RYA cruising section I emailed them explaining all of this and asking for an urgent response. I am still waiting.

I would love to join your strike but it appears the RYA have beaten you to the draw and gone on strike when it comes to collecting subscriptions. Or perhaps it was something I said.

Re: Have I missed something?

What have or have not the RYA done now? and why should we go on strike? or have I missed something?
Yes and cut out the abuse - but keep in the odd jape! If its 'tongue-in-cheek' then say so, so knowone gets the wrong end of the spinnaker pole and the thead swings away for the subject. ie Why are we discussing actors?

I think we are probably discussing actors as some kind of protest to this perfectly ridiculous post!! - Well at least thats what I'm doing
