Being rather modest, I'd get myself a Southerly 35RS... but then again, I also like the Island Packet... Or, maybe the Catalina 42...
Money wouldn't make things easier, would it?
One of those in the boat yard where I am at the moment, looks very nice, but there is a new BB out next year The 375
Buy a Swan or something custom built round about to 45-60ft size, get my friend Peter who is a shipwright to build be something nice that I can handle myself (for those of you who know scilly probebly on the same lines as Pettifox or Kathleen) buy a house in Scilly and cross an ocean or two.
Buy the oyster, give the rest to my ifa to keep him in the manner he has become accustemed to, living on the commission from his ill advised but lucrative (for him) investments.
I'd pick a Seventies Swan and have it built in wood. A couple of Sunderland timber merchants did this in the early Eighties and the result was stunning.
Bob Jones was recovering from a serious heart attack when his wife took a call to learn that he had won £1.2m on the Lottery.
Not wanting to present him with the shock of such an event she decided she would ask for counselling from her vicar.
He said that he thought he could see a way of easing Bob gently into the knowledge without provoking an attack.
Within the hour he was having a cup of tea with Bob and started talking about the lottery and then asked . " Just suppose Bob - just hypothetically speaking - what would do if you won over £1m on the Lottery?"
Without hesitating Bob replied " First I would give half to the church then .... Vicar what's wrong? Quick somebody! He's having a heart attack..!! "
