If you were going to the dark............

Subject to the expert input of the forum and my limited MOBO experience what I think I want is.............

I want to potter locally, Torbay, Dartmouth, Salcombe at displacement speeds but cross the Channel planing at 15/20 knts. Be able to go to sea in force 5/6 max. Adequate accommodation for the occasional 4 but be comfortably spacious for 2. No flybridge. Shaft drive preferable twin engine for offshore, as quiet and economical as possible. Some hull under the water for sensible handling at marina speeds. Bow thruster. 5/6 years old max £100K

dont be afraid of single engines. I have crossed the channel loads of times on a single engine boat.

Cheaper and easier to maintain (space), and more economical. Most breakdowns are fuel that would get both engines eventually......

Still a twin-engined Kent 33 then?

Hardy 32 but you might have to squeeze hard (no pun) to get the price to £100k - other wise a perfect fit to the brief - there are a couple on brokerage on the Hardy Marine web site

One of the old fairey marine power boats then. Either a huntress or a swordsman would give you everything you desire. They're certainly the only stinkpots I would consider owning.

Tom with £100k budget you are at the bottom of the decent Corvette 320 market, and this would I feel tick all your boxes, good at displacement speeds but will easily cruise at 18 knots on the plane.

Karl Farrant is the man to speak to.

I know this has a flybridge but it's a cracking boat that just needs a little tidying. I have driven it personally and the outdrives make it much more manoevrable than shafts. You can actually move it bodily sideways despite it having no bowthruster.

The sleeping arrangements are very civilised for people with dodgy knees! None of this clambering in feet first.

It's located in South Devon and has previously been to the Channel Islands.

I know the owner and it is a sad bereavement sale.

Lots of pictures. It's a nice classic looking power boat.

From a mobo owners point of view.
Corniche ..nice boat
But
The three cabin layout is cramped, fine for Hobbits ....you want the Two cabin dinette version...
Those outdrives are 23 years old ....Avoid like the plague ......you want shafts.
That price is well over the top for a nice one,let alone a fixer upper.
Ps.Check those fuel tanks they will be well past the renown Corniche sieve replace by date.
IMHO. :)

I've just changed from sail to a Merry Fisher 805, having been told to avoid outdrives. So far it seems perfect for the two of us, the dog and the odd couple of grandchildren.

Without wishing to get into a thread drift situation..........

this is not a fixer upper. The flybridge helm seat needs re-upholstering, one of the windscreen wipers is temperamental and the carpet could do with replacing.
The layout isn't at all cramped IMHO, but I haven't seen the version you mention.
Maybe the outdrives are a certain age, but wouldn't running hours and maintenance be more relevant issues?

Anyway, my mention of the boat was made in good faith based on my visits to friends, so we'll leave it at that. I'm not a mobo-er, so no expert on them.
