Cant believe that im at shamrock and was there too at the show on the last friday, there were plenty of empty berths my mate, phantom 46 was away all week and no one in his berth, I wasnt aware they charged that because of show eek, there are loads of boats still there from show still waiting to go away, also a new broom 50 I saw at lymington yacht haven, bet thats costing em as a visitor, as it aint the cheapest place, tho I believe salterns at poole can beat em all on rip off status.

Jason ! cheaper to overnight,have a meal & go table dancing @ the Folly (reckon I could still have small change from £52.00).

Company though @ Sparkes is great but can't see to much more pontoon dancing coming on.

I would question whether it is wise for some Sparkes berth holders to critsise MDL to much,didn't another well known member of this forum do that and end up being asked to leave (or was that just a romour). /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I'm in my 2nd year of MDL berthing in 5 years of nomadic boating. MDL allow you to change from one marina to another mid term and keep annual rates which is a bonus.

I've never had a problem with my 15 nights or short stays, except at Hamble pt (see below).

My MDL experiences are largely very good. In Chatham they offered to take me in the MDL pick up to a source of an impellor puller.
I'm currently in Shamrock Quay and they couldn't be more friendly and helpful.
Bray, Windsor and Penton Hook have all been brilliant.
Ocean village super friendly during the boat show and Hythe and Sparkes have both been good too.

Only bad experience was Hamble pt when I was criticised for not telling him how my boat name had been put on the MDL computer (they had put an erroneous space in Evenstar) that bloke could have got a job with the clever people at security in the airport.

Not a bad record overall. Speak as you find.

I know it sounds heavy but it's a real case of supply and demand. You can park outside my house for free but try parking in London's West End for a show...

MDL have overheads, share'g'olders and profit needs as do we all, if you don't approve your only choice was not to go, I'm afraid. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Chartscrubba ol'd chap, Chichester and Brighton are nice places to visit but not necessarily to berth. Sparkes has its problems for sure and is far less convenient than the Solent area marinas but still has better access to the sea with lock. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Malaprop, for christ's sake, you come out with some really stupid remarks sometimes. Hayling Glass Fibre Repairs are one of the best and really first class contractors that I ever had the pleasure of dealing with. They know their stuff, are very experienced and charge a fair price for the job. I would recommend them to anyone! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

MDL fuel... Well it's competitive, but for us difficult to get on the pontoon. Two weeks ago I asked if I could get fuel at 09:20. I needed 400 litres and was told they may just have enough left.

At 13:25 after a delivery and waiting for 4 hours, I could get to the fuel pontoon! /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif Saily boats taking their mandatory 20 litres and little speed boats kept jumping in to the limited space that was left by the dry berthers along the main channel and a breakdown at the end where little boats can refuel.

I very nearly left without fuel as I could have bought it in Cowes or Lymington at the same price but I've always tried to support our marina but on this occasion, it was very difficult to do so. If it happens again it will probably be the last time that I do.

Am I the only person who thought that Malaprop was being ironic? (i.e. suggesting that the only way Hayling Glass Contractors could remain onsite would be if they can convince MDL that, secretly, they're a bit rubbish - and thus eminently suitable tenants /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif)?
