NMEA2WIFI - 2x INPUT NMEA 0183 TO WIFI MULTIPLEXER WITH SEATALK INPUT SUPPORT | eBay

I am waiting delivery of this ... and I plan to connect my Lowrance to it ... it has flickering screen which basically is a death sentence for it as a working screen unit. But the GPS and data NMEA all work fine. So instead of dumping the Lowrance - it can be used to supply NMEA data to the plexor - which is then via WiFi to a Tablet in hand on board my mobo I use for fishing.

Because there will be two units I receive ... the other will provide data to WiFi on my main boat with the Onwa Combined Plotter / AIS.

The only question is whether Seaclear will work with WiFi ...... (I have Seaclear on my Acer One PC ..... ).

If you’re beaming the info to a tablet, can you not just put navionics etc on the tablet and dispense with the lowrance plotter altogether?

Why would I want to pay for Navionics when I have perfectly good Seaclear on the Acer One and my tablets have excellent plotter apps as well ... FREE !
The tablets to receive the AIS via the WiFi for display on the apps I already have.
The Acer One Seaclear also can show AIS ...

The Lowrance use is just putting to use the unit instead of just collecting dust and could well be left out.

Its basically a rationalisation of various setups I have and to reduce wiring ... the final probably being something different ...

But simply - I have no need to pay for navionics.

So you’re rationalising by using a not-well plotter to send info to a tablet that already has Nav software on it and is, I assume, perfectly capable of doing its job without help from the plotter. I’m not being argumentative for the sake of it, I’m just not sure I see the point.

Its a discussion topic ... after posting and reading replies - I am starting to think the Lowrance can stay on the shelf. Its a real shame as I created a whole series of River Charts for it and they are not compatible with another machine ... except Seaclear.

As replies come in .. as the gear gets used - I am sure a lot of changes will ensue. All my tablets have GPS - I'm an Android user ... but not AIS - so the ONWA will feed that via the plexor ....

Its a project that will be refined as it proceeds .... items added - items removed.
