If you had £2,000,000

Aha the mythical Targa

A Botnia Targa. Nothing more, nothing less. Just need to decide on what size.

But then you would need another boat to use when the weather was bad.
Only Targas I have ever seen have always been securely tied up miles from sea.:)

on a boat or boats
I was curious to see if anyone would have gone for the second of your options, but so far nobody did.
I'm not sure if it's because the question itself leads to think of "the" ideal boat everyone has in mind, or because nobody really think it makes sense to have different ones for different purposes.
I gave such choice a lot of thoughts a year ago or so, though nowhere near the budget you mention. And between the alternative of going slightly bigger with a boat similar to the one I already had, or keeping her and get a much smaller toy elsewhere, in a totally different environment and for a totally different usage, I finally went for the latter.
And I must say that I don't regret the choice one iota. I'd still go the same route no matter how bigger the budget.

If I was going to spend £2M on a boat it would probably be this one
I'm intrigued by the one barely visible on port side of the V85 in the pic that they call "docking station" (?).
Can't figure what she is (spot the boat, anyone?), but that one looks like a proper vessel.

Come up here. Botnias here are used in all weathers. They're as hard as nails oop north.

A man after my own heart........... Quite like the 40' as well and would probably be better for around the UK ! Little Ship would have to go to the West coast of USA for some summer cruising.

Tom

Tom.....Regarding the 40', I heard recently the 43' was created to allow extra room in the pilot house for a luxurious captains' chair....nice for some :)
Understanding your a big fan of the Pacific North-West, the location is a popular playground for Nord owners (according to their own publication 'Circumnavigator').

I think it's an old Falcon or San Lorenzo, but can't remember. If I'd seen this post yesterday I could have looked out of the window and told you. The V85 is Graham Beck's boat, in Port Vauban Antibes, and the quai off the bow of the V85 is Mole Sud

One of these
Itama (forty,45,46,50,fifty,54,55,fiftyfive,56,60)
Magnum (53 Maltese,56,60Furio)
XL Marine (43,51)
Rizzardi (50CR Topline,45 Incredible)
Baia (54 Aqua,63 Azzurra)
The rest for cruising, and enjoying the boat.

If common sense is allowed to control my brain in reality the Itama Forty, XL 43, Itama Fifty and XL 51 would be the best choise.

Or a wooden Baglietto ?

From all these brands, I prefer San Lorenzo.
