If there was...

I have a house with a berth at Port Solent marina and I find it very convenient to have a David Lloyd gym on the marina complex. It's not free, you have to pay membership but being so close is an added incentive to go regularly :)
So, to answer your question yes.

Seriously tho, It was just a fleeting thought but the more I think about it, the more I believe there would be a demand?? Not to add more to marina berthing costs but maybe a pay as you go or something like that??

always good to voice what you would like at your home marina.... a gym,,, TBH if there was one at Mercury both SWMBO and I would say we would go, but only one of us would actually attend... I'm not saying who that would be!;)

the most pressing requirement at HamblePoint IMHO is a decent bar & restaurant!!!:eek::eek:

Lisa, why on earth don't you move to Port Hamble or Mercury.... can never understand the draw to HP.... although Seabird will be there from 22nd Nov to end of Feb....! (on the hard anyway!)

Hmmm good question FF. I guess we've been there from the start and just feel right at home there. We did briefly look further up the river (by the M27 bridge) can't remember the name?? It was literally £000's cheaper but it just wasn't for us (well, me really) and so we just stopped looking. I totally agree about the restaurant tho as it's over priced for what it is but I have to say that we've got to know the staff there quite well and have a good laugh with them. Been to Port Hamble and I did like it (much the same as HP of course) and the restaurant and bar was unquestionably streets ahead. Chris would quite happily have a swing mooring in the middle of nowhere but I am a sucker for my home comforts and the social bit (on my terms of course lol). I should be more open minded tho you're right. Maybe we'll try the others for a few weekends over the winter.
Damn...I've waffled haven't I :o:)

Lisa, with the wonderfully generous :rolleyes: MDL freedom berthing, certainly nice to try others, but home is what you know... so quite understand what you say about Hamble Point... for you its comfortable.

You will have to come down & try mercury, shop a bit rubbish, but very quiet and relaxed and waters edge restaurant is OK. not good, but a pretty sound bet for a good evening. Also did I mention its quiet?

Like you and Hamble Point, Mercury for me is home from home... but I have probably spent more summer weekends there than home since 1971 so I'm not surprised.. :D

Quiet until I turn up and run my engines!!

Mercury is lovely and in my view, much much more friendly that the other Hamble marinas having tried most of them. The staff at mercury are also the best in my view also!!

As to the gym question. We go boating to relax and unwind. Going to the gym doesn't fit for us!!! It's like those people who go on holiday to the beach and insist on using the resorts pokey little gym. Maybe if I did I wouldn't be the size I am but ho hum!!!

Yeah all very True... & TBH it wouldn't be me going to the gym...but SWMBO always complains that she doesn't have enough time to go to the gym... but the nice thing about boats is you get away from your home life and leave all that and escape...

Got to say, ...I would prefer a really nice deli

a gym at your marina, would you use it???
(not sure mobo or lounge so apologies)
Lisa

Whatever for?

If you want exercise, go sailing & anchor off overnight, row to & from your boat, hoist sails, pull sheets & heave on a tiller with weatherhelm. Carry your fuel & water in jerry cans, walk to the shops for provisioning.

To pay for "exercise" in a hot sweaty enclosed environment is a silly joke surely? But each to their own.

Good point.... never been a fan of Gyms, prefer fresh air. Rowing, running or a good cycle round (even a swim if you are brave in the UK) is the answer.

Its a resounding 'no' then lol. How about a spa with a sexy masseuse??

Well, it sounds good, but I wouldn't have the funds to take it to the logical conclusion. :o

But I wouldn't let it affect your "poll" as I wouldn't pay to use a marina either, so I am not the market you seek.:) However, I'm sure that marina users & gym users have a lot in common, including surplus spending money.
