Just a few miles away from a very good hotel as well! The Busta House Hotel IIRC. I was fogbound there for a couple of days, where the owner and myself shared our delight of a really good wine list! Much recommended activity in a very nice hotel!

We have sailed for five days in a row - no rain

getting us now though - clinging to the pontoon in Scalloway....

making showers last as long as possible... we will spend hours in the museum scrtinising every bit of info before taking to alcohol tonight.

I spent 3 years (on and off) living at the top of the Voe, walking, running and cycling after work. Never sailed it though. Glad you got some great weather there. Take a look at the old gun implacements on Vementry. The guns are still there.

Indeed. The cruising in Norway is the finest in the world. Slartibartfast really did well there and he was not shy to admit it.

Circumnavigated Shetland over several weeks, some years ago. Fantastic cruising ground in the right weather. We were lucky, although the winds were often very strong, they were always offshore, so no huge seas. The area shown on your chart was probably my favourite area, but Shetland has a huge coast line with innumerable good sheltered anchorages, and small marinas. We left our boat at Voe and flew home for work, and then returned and carried on. The infrastructure has benefited hugely from oil money. Enjoy.

I worked with Slartibartfast a few years ago, or at least as close as anyone is likely to get ... implemented a mapping system to allow aircraft to fly up the fjords
