So, a little Friday day dreaming in preparation for the weekend.

If money were no object, and you had no ties, what boat would you buy, where would you moor, and where would you cruise?

My conservative side says a nice Benetau Antares 9.80 or 10.80 sports fisher, moored in Holyhead for fishing around North Wales and the odd cruise into Ireland, Scotland and the South of England.

My greedy side says a stuffing great Sunseeker Predator or Fairline Targa, moored in Majorca, or better still Florida, for general posing and blatting about!

Dave.

Nah.....come on, admit it Gordon....you really wouldnt feel comfortable with one of those parked at Eel Pie Island /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

On second thoughts u could probably make a bob or two playing the hospitality card for the Twickers crowd.......

ooh, I think HMS Britannia should do just nicely. Turn up in a proper yacht in St. Tropez and invite all the ladies on board lol.

Id buy one of the old cruise ships for about $2million an ex USA East Coast Fleet ship, change the rooms about and spend my time travelling the world.

How many crew can you realistically get away with on a thing like that Im hoping my girlfriend and me, and possibly another couple!!! she would have to leap onto the jetty with the mooring rope whilst i steered her in.

Id add a few things to the ship, for safety for example a small outboard bracket on the back incase of engine failure and ski hooks for u tubing off the back. i wouldnt need all the extras you get on cruise ships and thus would immediatly ditch the e coli virus that seems to come as standard on all cruise ships. to be able to make use of outdoor space in bad weather id have the whole deck being able to be covered in a Sunbrella material canopy from bow to stern, that would take some zipping but it would be worth it to keep the rain out.

and some fancy hull accents all down the side and change the name to 'tide tiger'

No IoM, you want the 86 not the 68 :) I've had the pleasure if seeing both anchored side by side in Villefranche (both dark red hulls), and while both are fab boats the 86 is truly outstanding:

Wouldn't change what I've got or where I'm cruising or intend to. Might get another crew though.

Hi People..

Dare i say, and this may be unusual for a 30 year old chappy,

I think id have a very large Grand Banks.. Perhaps a 64 or something...

I like a touch of traditional style..

All the best,

Nick

Botnia Targa 37 with jets and stay where I am in Poole.
That way I can use it now, West and South I have great cruising, I can afford to run it when the no object money dries up (it always does!) and I can actually get into most places I want to go at that size!

I quite fancied Abramovich's little boat. The one with a Predator as a tender.

I think for me the pleasure of boating is a large dose of solitude so it would have to be a boat that is easily handled single-handed and capable in all weathers. I would hate to have a boat that needed a crew - the exact opposite of what I want.

On this basis it probably needs to be a Botnia Targa, probably a 31 with a couple of D6's and nowhere to put my mobile phone! /forums/images/icons/cool.gif

If money were no object I'd buy Mucky farter a new tender. I'd get her polished and back to her gleaming self. I'd have again a new carpet. Last new one was new last year. But Long Johns dog peed on it as well as the settee. Jock was sick on it the other week, not to mention the pipe from the holding tank episode. Folk wonder why boat carpets only last two years. This one is knackered already!! I want some new smaller hawsers else I feel I may loose my new crew. And some self launching fenders as well. If I could have a couple of Cummins please. Not that theres all that much wrong with the Volsplutter thingies, except I feel that I will have a heart attacK If I have to laugh at there prices again.
