The mighty Riva - surely the nicest powerboat to have ever been made?

I guess if money really were no object then this would at least make a good tender!

Pete

And one of the fancy moorings in Monaco where they remove the cover and wash the boat each morning in case you decide to go for a jolly.

I've never understood whether these old Rivas are proper sea boats or flat bottomed lake boats. Yes, gorgeous things but will they fall to bits in a chop?

and as far as boat porn goes, this video has got to be up there with the very best, I would find it hard to understand why anyone who has a vague interest in boats would fail to see why a Riva is special... but be under no illusion, these are not pretending to be anything other than lake boats..

and this, the last wooden hulled Riva ever made...

Well said; I'd hate to disillusion you all. I was out in a Riva in the SoF a few years ago...well actually quite a few years ago!
My sis got picked up by these guys back in the late seventies. They had a convertible merc. and a Riva. I was the un- willing chaperone, but when i heard we were invited out on the speed boat i changed my mind very quickly.
The Riva is definitly not a sea boat!!!
Still getting my fillings replaced on a regular basis.......but the pose value 10/10.

We were going into Goes (southern Holland) when a fleet of about 20 went past - a sort of regatta of Rivas. Apart from being easy on the eye, the sound of the V-8s was musical.

In Goes some owners slept ashore but others under the boat covers.

Boat porn....... I need a moment alone.....

The varnishing would stop me in my tracks - I love the finished article, but maintaining?

Then again 'money no object' I suppose I could pay someone to do that bit or alternatively a bigger displacement boat with a nice wood paneled state room that isn't exposed to the elements... :D

what do you mean.... there's nothing more satisfying that applying 25 coats of clear coat yacht varnish, with a light sand between each... the result is difficult to believe.
