If money were no object...

I had a terrible job one day. The owner of the Hard Rock cafe chain had his 17 year old, bikini clad daughter with him on his Aquarama. He had a business meeting with my boss on the 245ft yacht anchored off the Eden Roc hotel outside Antibes. After a while the daughter was getting bored as the meeting dragged on. I was told to take her out in the Riva, with a small stash of cash, and entertain her for a few hours.

I did my best.

Is there room to get frisky in a Riva? They look about as roomy as an MGB. :D

My boat is a Riva 38 from 1980 and she manages a swell pretty well.. oh and she is plastic as well! No doubt the smaller classic Rivas were lake boats but once they started building boats beyond that they had to be designed for offshore stuff. Mine might not have the same sex appeal as the originals but it is still quite stylish and the quality of build is brilliant.

I stated riva's were lake boats, and i should have directed my comment towards those classic riva that we were discussing , certainly not the offshore boats that they have made in abundance

We had a Riva 2000 at the Cowes Classic Powerboat Rally, complete with 3 big block chevy V8's, I received a text the night before the rally to say they had been testing on the Thames....63mph past Woolwich!!

Its not that Riva's arern't lovely, just I find them a little overated.
