...they still wouldn't be as good as YouBoat, Gosport.
The story...I purchased a set of second-hand Plastimo clock, barometer, and thermometer/hygrometer from fellow forumite SlimRick, and despite Rick's very careful packaging and timely postage, Postman Pat decided to deliver them late and obviously kick them the last half mile resulting in a broken glass on the barometer. Disaster...not only was 3mm beveled edge glass going to be a nightmare to replace, of course being the barometer it was also the one with the hole and needle in the middle. Oh, and Plastimo had kinda gone bump as well...
After a few other ideas I called YouBoat, my local (to the boat) chandlery, just in case. Kath there said give them a few days and they'd see if they had any lurking anywhere...and phoned back a few days later having found one that might do.
I popped in on Saturday and sure enough it was exactly the right piece of glass, complete with pointer. They could have easily just "named their price"...it was my only option...but Julian took one look at the meagre (20 odd quids worth) of other bits I picked up at the same time and said "oh, just have it on us". Apparently Simon (the boss) had picked the glass up whilst clearing up some old stock after Plastimo's demise and put it in a drawer at home before bringing it in for me when he heard I needed one.
Just fantastic service, take a bow YouBoat...I was always pretty loyal but that really is going the extra mile. I've now fitted the glass and the clocks look great...can't wait to fit them on the boat!
And also a thanks to SlimRick for actively chasing me to see if I'd been able to sort a replacement and offering to pay for it. Thanks for the offer Rick but obviusly no need now!
No connection...just one seriously happy customer.
