I only bought my current boat, a Princess 32 at the back end of the summer and it is currently high and dry having been lifted for a few weeks so's I can do various things to legs, seacocks etc.
With two 6cylinder diesels in the back end she tends to sit well down in the water at the back but during the brief spell it was still afloat before being lifted had empty water tanks and a fuel tank only about 1/4 full. The fuel and water tanks are well forward of the engines, close to the longitudinal centre of the boat and the 110 gallon diesel tank is sandwiched between 2 x 25 gallon water tanks which are crossover linked so there is no listing element involved. As filling 'em all up will add a combined weight of something like 1200lbs (= 8 people!) it will be interesting to see how this affects freeboard and how much she levels out from the currently stern down posture. As its going to be some weeks before I can witness reality I wonder if any of you guys have similar size setups and how you find the fully laden scenario?

That was a fascinating and informative post, Tony and I should like to thank you for sharing your thoughts with us.

I think your last line's probably the best; "its going to be some weeks before I can witness reality"

Ypu've not been visiting Longjohn have you? Try taking more water in the whisky;-)

Well at 6' 4'' and 17 stone and with 2 teenage sons both well over 6' I probably look at it from a slightly different perspective!!!

Some years ago, mate had Princess 32, nice one, one of the last built, at the time I had princess 33 with twin 80's in, he had aqad40's i think 130 hp each, now that sat so low in the water when you opened it up it just burried it's arse and went nowhere actually untill you dropped the tabs right down.
What I am saying is, has it got trim tabs because if it hasn't then youre in for a surprise.
By the way it was a flying machine, but rode on its chines and you felt like the sea was coming through the front cabin floor, we got 27 knots out of it on the Humber trying to keep up with a Fairline Corniche.

Colin came on our boat, and seeing as how he is so light and nimble, it made no difference to our top speed. But at the same time I think one of the engines developed a fault, hence the top speed reduced by five knots.
