Obsesive boat talk in this household this holiday season (well at least it was only obsesive rather than totally totally obsesive....) and I would like to know in idiot terms the basic differances between the above in particularly with regard to noise and soot emissions as well as general reliability?

In other words which model would be the best overall choice?

Thanks

Nick

Not alot of difference between KAD 42 - 43 (230hp) but the 44s (260hp) have more horsepower and the earlier ones had turbo troubles ie overheating. Ealrier KAD42s had some piston troubles but like any boat it could happen at any time.

It really depends on the installation, ie which boat they are going in to.

Kad 42 & 43 2 valve per cyl super & turbo charged = 230 hp
Kad 44 & 300 4 valves per cyl with EDC ( Fly-by-wire) = 260 & 285 HP respectively.
Kads 43 would be my choice.
44 & 300 prob the least sooty due to electronics.

All so far said correct MBM had a prob with valves on F37 with KAD44's I believe.
KAMD43's on the school F36 have performed well considering the hours they've done.

Again probably because they are less complicated i.e. 2 valves per cylinder.
