We recently moored up in town and some idiot threw a fizzy drink over our seats on our day boat. We have tried everything to clean them but they are still sticky - can anyone help ?

Would help if you said what the seats are made from/covered with.
If cloth of any sort, then maybe a carpet cleaner. If removeable covers, then a washing machine. If wood or plastic, I'd have thought that washing up liquid and a soft brush would remove sugar deposits.

They are made from vinyl - and we have tried all the normal stuff - including swarfega alcohol cleaning sprays washing up liquid etc. If this is what it does to vinyl heaven knows what it does to your stomac.

good old fashioned very hot water and washing liquid wearing rubber gloves to protect your hands from the heat.
had this happen with sticky sweets over the winter, they melted over the vinyl covers.
