My bow thruster stopped working a couple of weeks back, had some wiring layout but no locations of objects, installed on a Beneteau Oceanis 411

Went through it all and removed the panelling in front of the fwd head, and the control box and relay was in there with the thruster, no idea why they didn't pass the wiring back to the fwd bunk where the battery is about 5 foot away

I cant find a model number, and it looks like the control box has corrosion around the far right components, was looking for a replacement

Have seen some people convert to a winch style remote set up, but want to keep the switch at the helm

Any clues on a model #

The other thing I noticed was the relay from the engine is energised all the time, not just when the engine is running, so the bow thruster is always live at the helm switch.

Can't help with the model - a photo of the motor with cover on would help. With regard to controls not difficult to fit a wireless remote, either one of the ebay cheapies of from a bow thruster maker such as Sidepower which I have. Also does the anchor windlass.

Motor cover is 2nd pic, the round topped beige bit with QL written on it, doesnt look like any QL model I can find
Looks like a Volvo Penta QL thruster that has a horizontal motor with a toothed belt drive. The little control box only serves one purpose, it adds a delay to prevent you going from right to left thrust quickly and overloading. It can be removed entirely by reconnecting the appropriate wires and if that restores your thruster you can leave it like that and just count to 5 before reversing direction. I may have the instructions somewhere....

Think this is your model

I thought it was normal to be able the use the thruster without the engine running, even though you will never want to.

My wiring diagram shows a relay connected to engine output in the 12v supply to the helm switch, will just remove it, thanks for the model diagram

Will bypass and check

So I'm down at the boat, bridging 12v to the motor inputs works, so it is the controller, I can bypass the controller by just reversing the feed to the switch at the helm so it outputs 12v+ to the motor directly. But I bought a wireless winch controller as well, so I'm thing instead of wiring both in line, and risk someone pressing left on switch and right on wireless, I could use a normally closed relay so the wireless controller is powered when the helm switch is turned off

Does that sound right or am I missing something simple
