Icom-M33 need help

Hi all, i have an hand held Icom-M33... The problem is that i can send and other boats send back a "reading you loud and clear" but I cannot hear them. I have to have the main VHF on to hear them. In other words my hand held is not receiving. Can anyone help. I look in the manual and it says reduce the squelch, this I did still does not work. It said it may be wet-it is not it is kept warm and dry in the boat.

I am in North Cyprus TRNC and there is/are no techies here to help, so over to you.

It's a known fault with the IF filters. Icom usually fix it FOC.

Sure you've selected the correct set of frequencies ie US/International? There are issues with some of the duplex channels.

Yes i am on I= International channels.

I hade the same fault on mine, even though it was out of warranty Icom fixed it f.o.c.

It would appear then that this is an Icom M-33 problem? I wonder why/how. If it was a car there would be a re-call.

Have been in touch with ICOM UK and they will do it for me> So shall courier it out and they will post it back. They said that there may be No Charge. but the max would be £40-00 that sounds good to me.
