It appears from reports from my crew, Englander went walkabout without me! Yesterday at 5 in the morning the wind got up a little, 42 knots actually blowing into St. Antonio bay. Englander dragged, 120' of 5/8" chain and a 112lb anchor! as did up to 50 other yachts. My (1) crew managed to extracate her from this melee and got away over to the other side of the bay and drop the hook again, where there was nobody else, he reported 4 meter seas, he said "I could have surfed them" he being a surfer I would tend to belive him! 5 other yachts weren't as lucky, two went up onto the rocks beside one beach 3 others went up another beach. For anybody who knows the bay, in front of the Hawaii hotel. They have now been pulled off, the damage I don't know. A lot of other yachts/motor boats were milling around in the channel, more went over to the fuel dock and tied up there, a few more went over to the ferry berth and rafted up there and some are still there, the fuel and ferry berths are behind the breakwater. The boat is now safe and the weather is now fine with no signs of further storms, however there wasn't much sign of this one either! Weather patterns appear to be changing, just my luck!! The thought of my boat going up the beach, frightens the living daylights out of me. I will be buying/making a new anchor, this one is about as much use as a chocolate fireguard! If of course we had known the weather was likely to blow up like this, we would have put out another couple of anchors, but that wasn't the case, plus I wasn't there, it's alittle difficult on your own!
