This morning I was moored in a beautiful bay on an Aegean Island with pristine water that enticed you to swim off the back of the boat. I was therefore amazed to see a Frenchman stark naked hanging over the back of his boat defacating into the water, he was obviously totally oblivious to anyone else in the anchorage.

That's fine by me - we mostly sail and swim naked but it's the crappng I can't stand whether over the stern or through the heads - anyone who doesn't use their holding tank or thinks it's fine to macerate is a villain.

I agree nothing wrong with swimming naked but sometimes you need to be just a little bit discrete, not a prude by any means but about a week ago on an busy anchorage in Meganissi a guy was stood on his foredeck as boats went by, completely naked with an erection. Cannot help feel if he did that on land he would be arrested.

Gosh I have no problem with the usual fat bellied Germans with hands on their hips bestride their foredeck starkers, but your story adds a new and not very welcome angle.

A friend of mine tells a story about a 'lady' german guest onboard somewhere in Greece. She was told explicitly that she may not use the heads on board whilst in port. His neighbour told him confidentially that earlier his german guest had been hanging her arse over the side - took the instruction a bit literally, but she does laugh about it now

Then he let go and I'm not talking about the boat.

THEN to clean himself he got into the water and used his hand.!!

Agree your concerns but unfortunately many older boats neither have a holding tank or the room to fit one. :ambivalence:

Even if you have one it gets a bit difficult if you do not have pump out facilities close at hand. .

We went from Cooper Island into Port Purcell, Tortola and as we approached saw a man, naked as the day he was born, having an outdoor shower on the back of a commercial vessel whilst tied to the quay. My son's girlfriend's mum was shocked and a friend of her daughter's asked if that was the first black sausage she had seen? It gave us a chuckle anyway.
