I know it's been asked before, but......

Can anyone recommend a good boat cleaning company in or around the Hamble, that does not charge the earth?

Cheers
Simon
Best way is do it yourself! Then cost out your rate per hour plus materials. I bet it will be more than the boat cleaners will charge! Oh, and then add on the insurance that the cleaner has to carry, plus the fact he/she has to make a living! Read profit!

If i had the time to clean the boat myself i would do, however living 200 miles from the boat doesn't mean that i can get down to it frequently enough to clean it, i do however wash it when i can!

I appreciate the costs involved in running a business and also that a profit needs to be made, however washing a boat does not involve 'skilled' labour nor does it warrant expensive fancy offices, which need to be paid for by someone!

The boat is a Squadron 52, and i don't mind paying good money for a proper job, but looking at some of the cleaning companies down that way they seem to charge a 'Hamble tax' on top for their services!

Why not say here how much per month you are prepared to pay then we can comment and tell you if you are applying an 'owners squeeze tax'.

Cleaning a boat properly is very time consuming.

So its someone with a cloth and hot water you want?

Those that are involved in "detailing" are skilled with extensive knowledge of what products should be used and how to use them.

"Pay peanuts etc." Springs to mind.

Firstly i never mentioned 'detailing' in my post, i do know that detailing is very time consuming, I also know that those involved in that are experts in their field! I don't want to pay peanuts, all I am after is the boat washing and leathering off for a fair price, I don't consider £170 for this to be a reasonable cost!

So you only want your boat washed and leathered.

Nothing else?

Is that each week throughout the year or only when you request it. i.e. before you arrive at the boat?

If it's simply a wash and leather, why not try a local mobile car valet. Might be worthwhile at least asking. I used to use a really good mobile service for my car when we were at Hamble Point. he was very, very thorough indeed. I think I still have his details if you'd like them. Just P.M me. I also have the number of a boat valeting service if you'd like to give him a try but I don't think he'll do any favours on price tbh.
