I Fink I Need A new Boat!!

My P35 is great. But getting a bit old in the tooth. Maybe I need a

P 385. Its about the same size. Can I have Cummins on shafts. Or do I need to look some where else!!

Part exchanging wives is extremely expensive, believe me. How about a P360? MBY ran one for a couple of years and pronounced one of the best sea boats they'd driven

Think you'd be better off replacing all the wife rather than a bit at a time, that really could work out expensive, probably more so than a boat and you run the risk of being seen with a Michael Jackson lookalike.

Aaw, come on, answer the question. I dont go to boat shows and no one will let me on theires. What the hell do you replace a P35 with. All the newer boats cheat on size by including the swim pontoon on the back, then have sloping back ends, leaving only about three quarters of the boat left. Tuther thing is. How the hell do you get off the new fangled ones. Especialy if folk have shore lines on to the pontoon. Looks to me like you would break your neck getting off the swim pontoon to shore and it seems no longer easy to jump over the side. And can I have Cummins on shafts please.

Hi,
I cant help with your decision on bigger boat, but I can tell you that the easiest way to come along-side shorthanded in a high sided boat without braking legs or ankles, is to present the bathing platform to the pontoon with boat at about 45 degre angle, HWMBO steps off and secures stern. Bow line is draped over guard rails.Then you bring the bows in with the BOW-THUSTER.

We all know that modern boats are only designed to look good outside the owners "new converted warehouse river side development".The fact that people may need to move around the boat when it is not in the marina has been mostly ignored.As for over all length well just add 6 ft to actual size,announce it on the side in garish decals and no one will ever notice the fraud.[llaugh]

That only works if bowthruster is powerful enough to overcome any wind blowing you off the pontoon and often they are not. You will look bloody silly with stern tied to pontoon and bow waving about in the fairway some 55' away in your case
Correct way is for crew to stand on bow with bow rope ready to lassoo over adjacent cleat on pontoon (crew and helmsperson will need to practice this) and present bow to pontoon at an angle (depending on wind strength and boat type) whereupon crew lassoos cleat (needs practice) and secures line back onto bow, following which engines can be used to bring stern onto pontoon. The point is that much easier to move stern with engines and guaranteed to work rather than bow with puny bow thruster

OK....OK. Copy book stuff. But I did say short handed, and in my case this means just me and SHMBO. Have you any idea how long it takes her to get the zimmer frame from front to back (bows to stern). I assume there is nobody to take lines, as there never is. Still prefer the bow-thruster in the right conditions, after all thats what its for.

Think I`ve caused a riot with only my 2nd posting.

Well if you have a zimmer frame as well, it should be no problem!. I have to manage with this!!!!
