I do it, why do you ?

Tried it once and why ...because a friend had a bright yellow cabined Christina with two 7ltr petrol V8's out of his old offshore racer.....we almost kept up with the Cowes Torquay race, I think we ran out of fuel at Swanage, and then there was the old Torpedo boat that was fun...

The worst thing is when you have the wind behind you and you get engine fumes where ever you try to hide.

You always the neat questions. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif I've tried most of them and I think it's because the sailing is about making the most of the wind, either when racing or not and the journey is as much a part of the arrival. Motor boats give us a much wider range in our all too limited time available. Both have much to offer but one mobo is as different from another as they are from sailing boats.
The only bit that narks me is this Mobo / Raggie rivalry. Just don't understand it! /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

That's exactly the sort of stupid remark I was referring to. What's the connection with powerful engines to sex? Some motor boats only have small engines or single figure top speeds. What does that mean? Are you in advertising? They, who believe everything is sex related.

I love being on the water, whether it be sail or power but my current life does not give me the time to appreciate sailing properly, we often pop out for a short blast in the evening or what ever, our mobo is ideal for that. We may have a couple of longer breaks in the year but most weekends we are out and the thought of loosing some of those weekends cause the wind is in the wrong direction would P me off.

Erm that and we live up river under a low bridge on a drying mooring!

Tried canoes, fell out of them, tried inflatables, folded around me, tried dinghy sailing, too wet, motor sailing on Loch Ness, lovely, peaceful but restrictive. Sorry but nothing will get me fishing quick enough other than the MOBO, and if money was no object the quicker the better.

done them all, but the idea of getting a small raggie as Magnum is considering is actually not a bad idea for a family of non boaters. I may consider doing the same

Don't need a substitute thanks!!

I like to be able to play around with Ski's,wakeboards and inflatables as well as go cruising and exploring. Tried both, at the moment power is my prefered option!!

Quite agree about the matter of time. When SWMBO and myself work the best part of 12 hours per day - five days a week then leisure time becomes very precious.

It's not only "getting there" but also enjoying yourself when you do get there. A weekend in France is a great way of relaxing from work. When it only takes about three/four hours to Cherbourg - a Friday evening jaunt - then a relaxing time with mussels, chips and a bottle of wine helps unwind before the next groundhog week.

Couldn't get there and back as easily on a raggie.

Maybe when retirement takes over and we do have all the time in the world then perhaps .........................................

Nah, still be a mobo!!!!!

Like most others on here we are very busy, and have to make the most of our weekends.
We are based in Ocean Village, which is 2 hours from home, and if we had a yacht we would never get out of the Solent (except for perhaps Poole if we left really early). I believe with this limitation we would already be fed up with the same water, and same marinas/moorings. With the Mobo, we can leave OV at a reasonable hour, say the crack of 11:00 and spent the afternoon, evening, night and next morning in all the Solent places or Weymouth, Torquay, Brixham, Dartmouth (or we could even turn left at the end of Soton Water), and still be back in time to drive home the next day.
It works for us, and as they say You pays your money, you makes your choice.

Can't argue with your sentiments.
We sail on landlocked Windermere because we get our time in 3 or 4 hour chunks and the actual process of sailing rather than getting anywhere is what we enjoy.

Have you seen the big beds they have on mobos, then compare it with a raggie and then think what you could do with all that extra room on the mobo, and the privacy.

You mean like this raggie bed then. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
