Hi,

I am currently trying to buy a nice HUSTER 35,
but am going through a nightmare of trying to establish that VAT has been paid
(current owner does not have the original receipt)

We have a survey indicating that the boat had been built in 1981 from
HALCYON YACHTING, another one indication 1979, and I personnaly believe having seen indication on the boat that she was built in 1975 (maybe by Tyler)

I have heard that trying to go back to the original builder could help finding the original invoice

Does anybody know of HALCYON BUILDER, in Westmersea ?

I am French, would like to keep the boat in the UK, and then sail in the EC, so I am being told that I would better getting the paperwork OK.

Many Thanks
Nico

these boats were generally completed by a yard called Landamores in East Anglia, they should have all the details and should be contactable via Oyster Uk in Ipswich, for whom they also completed alarge number of boats.

So long as you can prove, by bill of sale etc, that the previous owner purchased the boat in the UK, you should have no problem. The RYA may be able to give you further advice, they publish free leaflets about buying yachts abroad and about VAT. They may apreciate a donation though for their advice .
Hope this helps, The Hustler is a fantastic sailing boat, an illustration of Holman & Pye at their best, in fact Don Pye actually ownes one himself at present, or at least he did, last time I heard!

Oh, and the hulls were moulded by Tylers {no longer around}
The Holman & Pye association will have more info, I think that PBO should have their address somewhere

Let me get this right.

Your French and want to keep the boat in the UK - right?

Why?

Incidentally, I looked at buying a Hustler 35 - nice boat! Found out it could be a bit wet and uncomfortable though. However, heavy, safe, good storage, besutiful to look at.

Thanks you very much, that proved very usefull
I contacted Holman & Pye Yacht designer

Lovely chap who has been able to give me the Hull Number, and also
the real builder who unfortunately is not in activity anymore (Hartley Marine)

So I finally came to a Dead End, but I now know that this yacht has been built 9 years before what is its advertised date by the current owner and/or broker :)

Cheers
Nico
