Hi everyone.
My friend has the same gearbox as me in his boat and she goes into astern and neutral fine. But when ahead is selected, she doesn’t engage straight away. The only way she’ll go into ahead gear, is to briefly rev the engine to a fairly high engine speed and when she returns to tick over, she engages.
Can anyone advise of a possible solution?
Many thanks in advance.
Pedro and Johno.

Disconnect the control cable and see if it goes into gear properly when the lever is moved directly; if so Boater Sam is correct with it needing the cable adjusted.

Seems to be a common problem with Hurth gearboxes, mines been like that for years, learnt to live with it,sometimes have to go in to reverse before it will engage forward, not a worn problem as engine had hardly been used when boat bought.Tried the recommended atf oil also engine oil which some seem to use.

Did you notice any difference between engine oil and atf?
