Hurth website no longers exists and you are quite correct that the ZF Marine site no longer gives cross reference to the old Hurth nomencleture.

For small ZF stuff Bob Knowles has always been very helpful:http://www.bobknowles.demon.co.uk/

As ususal the big however, I have always been under the impression that the little Hurth boxes were not cost effective to repair as they are cheap as chips new

thanks for the replies so far im now looking at importing a box from the states which is coming in at £785. Does anyone know how much the import duty would be?

Why not buy one of these rebuild kits on ebay for £35. These gearboxes are easy peasy to work on so you could do it yourself.
What is actually wrong with it anyway, they are usually quite sturdy wee boxes and don't give a lot of problems unless not looked after properly?
