Hurrah! Another tax, but at least our beards are safe.

What a totally stupid tax for tax sake - almost impossible to police and to be spent on things that will make no difference to any sea angler.

This government just cannot stop grabbing. Are the car parks just for sea anglers? Do they need more car parks? etc etc

Totally barmy.

How do you tell a bpat going out for a jolly, to the identical boat with a rod on board. Argh!!! the total insanity of the faceless beurocrats, who don;t know one end of a boat from the other. just another possible tax. for taxes sake. I remeber the old road fund licence was to inprove the roads..... ha ha !! big joke... several billions a year going......elsewhere.. and not much improvement to the roads IMHO.
Makes yer puke dunnit!! might even make strong stomached sailors sea sick,
Drew.

But you will be allowed the rod if you have a 12 year old or less on board!!!!

This may seem just a stupid tax but to me it represents the whole attitude of this government - they can take our money and manage it better than us. In practice they are the worst managers the world has seen. In the history of the UK nobody has spent so much to get so little back.

Not laughing 'cos it's so outrageous - but back to IoM tonite to look at houses - accepted offer on ours yesterday! This idea seems to get better day by day.

Well that depends if its a fishing licence or a rod licence.

If a fishing licence then they would have to catch you fishing without one to prosecute.

If its a rod licence then they would charge for each rod!!!!

This proposal is being spun to raise taxes to improve facilities for sea anglers and aid conservation. In practice the claimed improvements like car parks etc ate absurd. As regards conservation the individual anglers have no real effect - its only the commercial anglers that have a significant effect.

Its this Nanny State attitude where they think they can take our money and mange it better than we can - its total nonsense. Pure spin.

Well done. Things are moving fast for you. See you there next year!

They have been on about this sea anglers rod licencing for a long time now.
So many questions have sent out to those concerned, with no answers given in return.

How will they police it?
How will the money be spent?
How will they preserve the fish stocks?
How will they guarantee, that there will be fish to be caught, in the already over-fished, over trawled sea.

What about Hand lines?

IMHO, it's a load of bull. You can help stop it by signing the petition below.

Couple of years ago I got boarded by Fisheries Protection. Amongst the other questions they asked if I agreed with the governments proposed sea fishing license.

Sorry I can't print my answer !

But after my tirade the guy just said, "So I'll put that down as a No then"?

I've been fishing off Eastbourne for 42 years, beach, pier & boat. I simply won't pay it so they can get stuffed.
