Hunting debate.....nb

yeah, wd've been much better if they had ridden into the house of commons on horseback. I agree that the protesters wern't protesting very much - until they got whacked, and then they were protesting a bit more. It can't have been a real protest cos T Benn wasn't there?

Re: Motivation weekend

yes that is a fair point .. perhaps a culturally diverse German huntgroup .. might change the face of britain?

Re: Motivation weekend

yep, they should've called us in sooner. If huntsmen simply ran the whole thing as the University of Great Goring, enlisted lots of students, then winghed about the lack of funds, lots of daft aimless youthful types wd end up paying loads of money to sit exams. I bet it would be v popular AND increase the number of grads too, which is actually govt policy. Obviously we'd run out of foxes, and anyway, the student aren't gonna run after them too much really. But they wd write excelent essays about strategy in chasing after foxes and so on. Which wd have real value in showing their adaptability to other sectors when the time comes to choose a career.

Re: middle ground

that's a bit sweeping innit? There's lots of middle ground. How about muzzling the dogs, or forcing the horses to a reasonable trot? Or what about people like me who have killed lots of foxes, six of them by chucking them onto a bonfre (the vet and the rspca told me to rid of them) and drove over another fox on the A20? Or how about just forgetting all about it?

Re: middle ground

some good ideas here, from tcm and jimi, i.e feeding and sheltering foxes and the muzzling of the hounds etc, perhaps in the coming 18 months, assuming the bill goes through the lords that is, we could have them elected to some kind of government investigation team to help find a way forwards in the implementation of the ban.
ah, but after cornering said fox using muzzled hounds, do we let it go so as to be able to allow it to formulate a new cunning plan to win the chase next time out.............hmm thinking about it, why should it bother, it will get a good workout and still get away everytime. It could have a selection of routes depending of which type of excercise it decides it needs. More hilly or more obsacles etc. Also due to being totally knackered, he wouldn't have the energy to over procreate, thereby controlling numbers. He could return to his cosy manmade earth every night and not need to go out and kill as we leave food out for him to survive.
Actually thinking about this, everyone would win hands down.
Pet lovers dogs and cats etc would be safe from the hounds. The hounds and horses would get plenty of excercise too, I don't actually think the horses give a toss about the end result anyhow, they would still get their jollies crashing through fences and peoples gardens and the like.
The huntsmen/women could still all dress up in their pinks and thoroughly enjoy a good day out.
Foxy and his supporters would be well chuffed.
Then when bushy tail is old and knackered, which presumably would occur much sooner due to the increase in adrenaline etc, he could wander out one fine night and get legally lamped.
In fact the only real person to loose out is the new junior member to the hunt who wouldn't get blooded, which I am sure isn't at all rapturously enjoyed by most of them anyhow. We gould always give them a good rubbing down with a Glasson smoked black pudding instead.
It could be a new revolution in foxhunting. Would we need to carry out risk assessments, job safety analysis and that type of thing. Government regulated body and such. Ministery foxhuntingandlettinggoagain etc.

Re: suveying the damage

In the true spirit of SB, i wd just like to say that i've very sorry for attempted banjaxing of this thread, but see, jimi PM'd me that it shd be a 300er and TOLD me to do it, just like tony blair was told to send troops to iraq by George Bush, sort of.

Re: suveying the damage

Absolute rubbish, my intelligence sources said there was thunder forecast and I just relayed the message.

Re: tsk!

hm, good attemopt, h00, but you can't revitalize a thread by merely summing up the posts so far - nobody will post cos you've sort of drawn a line, and no chance of 300?

Much better wd be to include sideways personal references to the fact that it seems a bit strange all those blokes in fancy jackets, and so perhaps nicho might like to comment, cos he's an expert on that sort of thing.

Or, you could just lay into to someone for no good reason, which i have done a few times because er well, er, no good reason, then later (if you are sorry) say sorry, you just typed the first thing that came into your head, which i do, and then it's too late to flippin undo it, dang :-)

Re: Time to vote!

I'm against Veggiemite.

Does that help?

Keep going lads you'll get to 300 then this will fall off the listing PDQ, methinks.

Re: Time to vote!

ah, but that's the point, this was never about banning hunting per se, but actually about the manner of the debating thereoff, and what was actually happening both in and out of the chamber at the time of viewing.
I have not actually posted a personal view as yet.
Also, since the thread was hijacked, kinda, the hunting issue seems to be totally around the fox, what about the hunting of hares in a course manner. Badgering badgers etc.

The actual ban is on the hunting with dogs.

Also I have to admit that the wee manny also encouraged me to do the same re: the 300 point.

ps. I'm only tellin ye this coz he hisnae responded tae ra PM ah sent him.

Re: Time to vote!

unfortuantely, the oranges are'not killed humanely, especially the sick cut marmalade, arf. And, i spect the marmalade maker has a dog. If hunting with dogs is outlawed, that wd mean you aren't allowed to look for anything, even car keys i spose, with the dog in attendance?

Anyways yer can't vote cos you have been paired with a lefty tax-and spend cauliflower.

Re: Time to vote!

I'm pro chees sandwiches, as long as the cows are treaded nicely, no harm done and a true humane lunch.

<hr width=100% size=1>Never attempt to teach a pig to sing.
It is a waste of time and it annoys the pig.
