Hello All,

I'm after a new Hunter Impala MK2 Rudder and was wondering if anyone had information on where I could buy one or have one made?

Many thanks in anticipation of your help.

Phil London.

I see you have also posted this question on the Impala association website, which is where you will get good up to date information.
But from memory I think you can get any foil maker to make you one, (or make one yourself,) as long as the rudder conforms to the plans of course.
Milanes Foils were involved in making the prototype Mk 2 rudder and is one of the principal suppliers - He was amazingly helpful with the initial builds, and I would suggest contacting him for a price.
I think this is his email address
milanesfoils@breachhouse.co.uk

The mk 2 rudder is far superior for control, especially when power reaching, is much lighter and is the same wetted surface area as the old one.

Hi Ben,
No - That was the Impala Associations spare rudder.
The Association holds a spare rudder which is available to members for swift replacement, in case of a breakage. The member then pays for it of course.
Saves the lead time on ordering, so the the owner benefits from being able to go racing or sailing the next day/weekend after a breakage.

In the same way the Association has a spare paid up mast lying at Shamrock Quay, which just needs dressing.
The system works - In the windy Nationals in Milford Haven, Asterix broke her mast on the practice day, drove the boat trailer down to Shamrock - picked up the association mast and drove back to Wales - transferred the rigging and re-stepped ,then finished setting the rig up in the dark ready to race having only missed 1 days racing.
(The Neyland crane driver was a real star here as well)

See ya
Tim
