Since reading that HW was possibly going to be repeated I have watched episodes 1&2 on Youtube.
Awesome acting and great dress sense.
Jan Howard is such a likeable character and Tom is the epitome of an eighties icon.
Cant get enough of this quality of programming, who needs Big Brother/BGT/ Xfactor etc.etc.
When such classic TV is languishing in storerooms throughout the Kingdom.

Errr. I have to own up to owning the boxed set..........
It was pretty dire, Ken had an Alpine GTA - I had one of those myself for a few years. didn't inspire me to go for that odd 80's fashion of a jumper with no shirt. why? So damn itchy...

The best bit was how they always had a major disaster or two at the end of each series. Often involving the pneumatic Tracey childs. Married the geezer who played Charles wotsit she did. Didn't he suffocate on his wedding night under those huge bags?

Could we add a third poll option along the lines of 'Commission some new programmes instead, preferably not involving houses, bric a brac or unusual health conditions'?

No. but he has died since.

I don't really remember Tracey Childs as having big norks.

And my appendage is a Bloater.

Please NOOOOOO!!! My old man loved it to the extent that some Sundays on the boat were cut short so he could get back to watch it - this being in the dark days before iplayer etc! Turns out that what he really wanted to do was reminisce about his boozing youth around Bursledon, Hamble etc...

On a rainy Sunday a couple of years ago a mate had the DVD's aboard so we put them on - in an attempt to avoid wasting another day in the pub - and the full horror of it came flooding back. Poor 'acting', terrible story lines and, by modern standards, incredibly slow paced. Needless to say we found ourselves in whiling the day away in the boozer rather earlier than planned.

Good opening sequence though!

Jan and the Blonde were yummy.

Got me interested in the Sadler 45 and after seeing one in the flesh at Cowes on a rare occasion when B Fisher was sober bought one in '96. Still have it today in spite of build frustrations with Sadler. Not many yachts you can thresh about in with mates at over 14knots and potter up shallow creeks with just wife. Was out threshing with a mate enjoying the sun yesterday and have no intentions of selling soon either.
