I admit to having seen an episode in the last couple of years. The passage of time has not been kind to the programme; it is now utterly cringe-worthy whereas my recollection from the early eighties was of a rather watchable series. These days I can thing of >1,000 other things which I would rather do - but probably not including sticking pins in my eyes!

Same for me, but I was thinking of eating wasps.

I used to fancy that Jan Harvey in a fancying your mate's mum kind of way. I would watch the first episode of the reruns for about 3 1/2 minutes...

'Fraid Blue Peter was in black n white but I had a colour telly by the time of The Money Prog..
So not soo young!
As a kid I met her on the stairs at bbc shepherds bush, me first real star. Said hello n all

We didn't have a telly until I was about 6 or 7, and it was B&W until I was well into my teens. I remember Christopher Trace and Val Singleton as the presenters of Blue Peter!

We started watching Howard's Way because we thought it was going to be about yachting. However after 2 or 3 episodes we found that it was really a soap about a dress shop.

By then we were "hooked" and carried on. It is the only soap we have ever watched.

That's a brave admission - though I quite liked it too! It's one of the few aspirational soaps I can remember - most seem to focus on the failed end of society wallowing around in the gutter - never understood why anyone would want to watch that.

I haven't voted because I would be fascinated to see a couple of episodes to find out whether it was as absolutely awful as I remember it being. My abiding memory is of some appaling acting, staged sailing shots and story lines which got further and further away from boats. On the other hand, some nice shots of Bursledon and it was, however tangentionally, vaguely boat related.

So I'd probably watch a couple then delete the series link.

+1 :D

Wasn't there some French boat that did that? The galley and chart table, at least. A ring-frame around the inside of the hull, and a module which slid around it with a weighted bottom.

Just tried to google it without success, but I'm sure pictures were posted on these forums.

Pete

I believe the boat you're referring to is the Fan Class - Fan-Class-321.jpg

"So I'd probably watch a couple"
Shouldn't this be on a dogging site?:D

I have been approached by a highly placed executive in the TV industry to see whether there would be any interest in reruns of Howard's Way.

What is the panels view.

Please don't let them repeat it......... I'd not be able to stand all the complaints there will be about it on the forums

I'd prefer a re-run of the Onedin Line, might as well have a real seafaring soap!

The Onedin Line was repeated in its entirety a couple of years ago on one of the Freeview channels. I watched it all but somehow missed the episode I was in :(

Probably won't be round again for another 20 years.

I love watching it, for exactly the reason you hate it. I'm not sure how it could be made to work today?
1. The 1980's cars, boats and fashion make it a comedy
2. The old story lines would be politically incorrect / offensive in these days orf austerity?

So the Onedin Line would not suffer from these problems, remember an anti-slavery episode! Were you the slave Snow Leopard?:p

I'm not sure if I should admit this, but I bought the box set last year. OK, the plots and acting were poor, but there was just enough boaty stuff to keep my interest going to the end. I will watch anything remotely boaty, as there is never anything about boats on telly. I will even watch Timothy Spall:D - Oh, dear, thats another confession - I better stop there:eek:

I loooved it! And, as I admitted once before, I went sailing because of it. Needed to do something for my annual holiday as my original plans had been scuppered by the Bol bloody d'or and was watching Howard's Way and thought to myself that looks like fun. So off I went. Thanks Howard's Way!

Used to watch it 1st time round, with the kids, but only to recognise the shots of places we'd been to - Dr Who was much better so Michael Briant got some thing right.

Daughter, now 49, is an avid "Dr Who" fan even now - but her son (5) finds current episodes too frightening.
Shows how soft kids are getting - she used to hide behind the sofa at frightening moments.

Oh! to answer the original ?, it would raise no enthusiasm in my breast (but then I find most TV boggling boring)

My mate owned the Sealine in the opening shots. Had extra big petrol engines to give it some oomph. Speed was gauged by the reducing fuel gauge needles. Sold it once his first full tank of petrol was gone. I really fancied Ken's girl-friend!
