Hi - I need to strap my cylindrical tank down better as it managed to shift itself a wee bit last season...
Thinking of using nylon straps that will somehow need to be fixed to the wooden support base of the SS tank. Very tight spot...
Any tips?

Here's how the barrels are strapped under my swimming pontoon :

To really get tight - you can add small turnbuckles.

The straps (white) are shipping box plastic straps - they were the pontoon builders method - but ice destroyed them. I replaced with wider composite straps fixed with self tappers (2 each fixing).

Not very helpful, but, loads of straps available. Just having to choose which is most suitable for your needs and ease of securing.

Something like this*, adapted for your GRP hull:

I secured the cylindrical fuel tank for my Taylors cabin heater using this method with s/s straps.

If I was doing the job now I might use something like these instead of the S/S straps (provided I could find some with s/s rings and buckles).

I used two polyester 25mm endless ratchet straps to secure both my cylindrical hot water tank and rectangular plastic diesel tank. Had wooden blocks to prevent any movement. The ratchets were stainless so no corrosion issues.

I would use seat belt webbing to attach the tank to shaped mount blocks as in the diagram. These can be glued to the GRP with a wooden bar across the bottom also glued to GRP. Dependimng on hopw much support your shaped blocks give the webbing can be sewn in a loop with cord lashing to tension it. ol'will
