I’ve recently removed Gaffer Tape from the hull & most of the adhesive has bonded to the hull. I’ve tried various cleaning products including Acitone, which softens it slightly but not enough to remove with a scraper.

Any bright ideas?

I had this trouble after having the windows reglaze. I tried white spirit, thinners, acetone but nothing was the magic bullet. Elbow grease with all or any of the above got there in the end. Magic Eraser was good for the final cleaning.

Detak (available from Hadlow Marine) developed for removing chewing gum from surfaces works well on most sealants and glues, as does 'Sticky Stuff Remover' sold on Amazon.

xylene based thinners. I removed some stripes once, Tried Acetone , wd40, white spirit, sticky stuff remover. None of them were ant good The xylne based thinners from lidl was fantastic. Pity they stopped doing it.

Thanks for all the advice.
I’m laying up our boat in Greece, so have limited supplies. In the end a hot air gun and scraper to remove the bulk, followed by paint brush solvent/ thinners did the trick. Not sure what’s in the thinners- it’s all Greek to me.

I think the stuff you need is trike, or trichloroethane. Its an industrial degreaser and hard to come by in UK bit may be easier to find in Greece.

I had some gaffer tape on my small aft deck covering the shower fitting holes all through the first lockdown, which as you might recall, was warm and sunny. Sticky Stuff Remover did the trick.
