How to reduce slamming

Is there a sub 33 footer you'd rather be in in challenging upwind conditions offshore ?!

No. But then we avoid offshore sailing because we sail as a family - by offshore I mean true offshore, not just crossing to Holland or the CI's!

Our 33 ft deep fin and spade rudder used to slam a lot when beating, so we reefed or motor sailed, still slammed. Now we shake out the reef, turn off the Volvo, drive hard with the boat heeled enough to make the companionway a challenge and the slamming stops, boat slices purposefully to your destination. Is this common to most AWBs or is it the Rob Humphreys design?

And people do this for fun? How delightful.

How did you find the Pogo at sea?

You get some pretty lively noise from those in a marina

Upwind, better than I expected - quite bouncy and slammy in some chop conditions but fine if flattish.

Off the way wind...amazing, just flew!

But at 50y, I found it all a bit hard work - probably not the ideal cruising boat !
