Would anyone be able to give me a rough date for a Heron dinghy please? I need to get one sold. It's GRP, with a wooden gunter rig. Sail number is 8500. That's all I know! Can't see any hull number although 8500 is engraved on a wooden beam across the transom. Built by Bossoms (or Bossons, can't quite make it out) Boatyard in Oxfordshire, according to a small metal plaque on the fibreglass support just under the mast.

Probably mid to late 1980s but the sail number is the all important fact, together with its condition.

I had a GRP Heron a couple of years ago which was sail no 8115. Was told by previous owner that it was a 1983 model, so guess yours would be about 1985??

Flowers candle lit dinner if you get lucky finding a hotel with an 11 foot bed may be a problem.
