Could anyone enlighten me on an easy method to measure the thickness of the acrylic (if that’s what it’s made of) in my forehatch.

I can measure width and length obviously but I need to get an accurate measure for thickness before ordering some new stuff. I don’t really want to remove it prior to ordering if possible. The frame of the hatch prevents using a micrometer/ruler etc

I may be being a bit dense.

Two blocks of wood, two straight edges , measure, subtract the thickness of the blocks.
Now you’re talking! Known thickness blocks and two straight edges…..only difficulty being I might need to rope my son into it….may cost me a packet of chocolate biscuits.

Tim Tams have higher value :)

I'd say access a coating thickness meter - but unless you know and have good contacts with a galvaniser or professional paint shop - its nigh on impossible

Shine a light onto the window at 45° (a laser pointer would be best but not essential). Measure the distance along the window between the two brightest reflections.

For acrylic the thickness is 0.9 times the separation. Polycarbonate won’t differ much.

Drill a small through hole, measure and then bung it up with a sealant or nut & bolt. You're replacing it after all.
Exactly what I did on Wednesday night. My measurement using other methods were close but I was not convinced,

The hatches are original fitted on a 1980 HR352 and the polycarbonate is 12mm..

Thanks…..I’ll give that some thought.
