The poll isn't to identify which specific users are female. How do you do that with a poll? It was to quantify the relative percentage. Any comment below the poll is voluntary.
You can select whether the poll is public when you create it.If women prefer not to identify themselves by gender, I think it's unlikely that they will choose to participate in a poll that does just that. Can "non public" polls be posted on this forum? If you are really interested in the answer to your question that might be a better option.
Right, but it's voluntary. You're not identifying other people against their wishes - apart from you could with a comment, which I hope nobody would. My original comment under the poll was not that women seem shy to identify themselves.
