How many pennies

Depends where in the Med. Jez is about right for mainland Spain; bit less from SoF, maybe £6k ish. I'd be amazed if taking it by sea was cheaper than trucking it.

23,000 euros to ship northbound, did it earlier this year with my manhattan 50. Just don't expect it to go to your chosen port and there will be delays, apart from that it's very simple and easy, no lifts or taking your boat to bits!

In fairness, trucking's not that hard - covers off, aerials off, lighting goalpost (and maybe radar) off, and that's about it. I've done it three times now, took about half a day to prep the boat last time. Probably worth the effort for the big cost saving.

Agree with the above, if it's capable of being moved by road then go by road. For that size it's not so economical by ship.

To be fair my price was from Malta and didn't seem quite as bad with the exchange rate pre referendum. From when I enquired trucking a 50ft flybridge or bigger gets a bit tricky over that distance. I did consider the cost/loss of earnings to fly and start unscrewing bits myself, great if you can do it yourself. What did surprise me over the whole experience is how many ships there are running about loaded with boats some only going a very short distance relocating from one part of the Med to another.

For that size boat, I'd have thought the French canals would be best. Loads have done it, just don't leave it too late, I think some of the locks close for the winter from mid-late Oct
