We get YM and ST for practical cruising tips and reviews, also YW to read about boats we can't afford and CB for pretty boats we cannot afford/haven't got the patience to maintain. I don't mind articles being updated/refreshed at least every 5 years, every year or so in the case of electronics etc.
I find YM and ST informative and a good read. Only annoyances are tests of pre-production yachts in very light winds (couldn't these be called First Look or something with a more detailed follow up review later). An on-line index for all articles would be useful. Also YM never seems to cover preparation/gear for a long crossing like the ARC in sufficient detail, e.g. provisioning, SSB transceivers, watermakers, generators (articles on taking the kids too don't apply to me). YW does an annual survey of gear which while useful isn't a comparative review of the latest equipment available. I.E. there should be a better overlap of gear testing between YM and YW IMHO.
